Dr Roland Berry

MBChB, MMed (OPHTH)
Born and educated in South Africa, Dr Roland Berry began his career in medicine at the University of Pretoria, where he graduated MBChB (Pret.) in 1983. He took the position of Medical Officer at the II Military Hospital in Wynberg, Cape Town (1983 to 1986). In 1987 Dr Berry became Officer in Command at Ondangwa Military base hospital (1987 – 1988).

In 1992 Dr Berry attained his MMed(Ophth) at the University of Stellenbosch.
In 1993 he went into private practice in Paarl with a satellite practice in Stellenbosch.

Dr Berry has served as a member of the Executive Committee of the Ophthalmology Society of South Africa, the Ophthalmology Management Group and the Regional Chair of the South Africa Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.

He has been on the Organizing Committee for congresses of the Ophthalmology Society held in Cape Town.
He is also a member of The American Society of Ophthalmology, the Glaucoma Society of South Africa and the South African Medical Association (SAMA)

He has a special interest in laser (Refractive) and cataract surgery and has also published articles internationally on topical anaesthesia and retobulbar eye anaesthesia in cataract surgery.

Dr Berry also has certification in cataract and Laser refractive surgery from the University of Ulster.

He also works as general Ophthalmologist including glaucoma, diabetic eye diseases, squints, etc.
