Dr. Louis Boezaart

Dr. Louis Boezaart began his medical career at the University of Pretoria, from where he graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Medicine and Surgery (M.B.Ch.B) .

He  then worked at Kalafong Hospital in Pretoria, followed by a period as Medical Officer (Family Medicine) at Thusong Hospital in Ligtenburg and in private general practice, Dr Boezaart began his Masters Degree in family medicine at the Department of Family Medicine, Pretoria, and qualified as Mprax.Med. He subsequently desided to persue a carreer in ophthalmology and started specializing at the University of Stellenbosch in Tygerberg. In 1990, he qualified MMed (Ophth) and began working in a private ophthalmology practice at Bellville in the Western Cape. In addition to his private work, in 1997 he accepted the position of parttime Consultant at the Department of Ophthalmology at Stellenbosch University, a position he holds to this present day.

In addition to his interest in cataract, refractive surgery and vitreo retinal surgery, Dr Boezaart is a Director of the Cape Eye Hospital. His professional memberships include the Ophthalmological Society of South Africa, the South African Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the South African Vitreoretinal Society and the South African Glaucoma Society.
